A Shift kept busy with Structure Fire Responses
Wed. Jan 13th 2010

Wednesday was a busy shift for Firehouse18.  While Engine18 was busy out of their zone just after shift change, Rescue18 was assigned to a first alarm for a dwelling fire in Firehouse18's first due zone. R18 arrived to find a one story residence with light smoke inside. R18 was assigned to the interior investigating the cause of the smoke. R18 with the assistance of E30 located a burned out fan motor on the HVAC system.

Units assigned: E30, E16, E10, R18, R30, DC3, AC1, C200

R18: FF Randy Hawkins, FF Jake Clemmons

After more than a dozen calls for various emergencies (medicals, automatic fire alarms, MVC’s), E18 was assigned to a structure fire in Station30's zone. Upon their arrival E18 found E30, R30 on scene working a kitchen fire with extension into the cabinets and wall. The LT on E18 assumed command while the remainder of the crew assisted on the interior opening up to search for extension and ventilating the smoke from the structure.

Units Assigned: E18, E30, E10, R30, R10, T30, DC3, AC1, C200

Just after 11pm E18 was assigned on the first alarm for a structure fire in Station17's zone. E18 arrived as the third due engine and found E17, R17, E28, R28 on scene and working a one story dwelling that was 50% involved. Hoselines where deployed and E18 was assigned a 2 1/2" hoseline for a defensive attack through the garage that was venting heavy fire. During the initial operation E18 operated hoselines and performed VES tactics on bedrooms on the Bravo Division of the dwelling. All searches where negative with the exception of a family pet. E18 was released around 3am and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Units Assigned: E18, E17, E28, R17, R28, T28, T30, DC3, AC1, C200, Rehab21
